Village Green 2012

This saturday me & my big sister Georgia ( a very talented surface pattern designer - check out her blog here!) have joined forces to have a stall at  the Village Green event in Chalkwell Park,  Southend. - It's a free arts festival which has a great line up of music, art, theatre, film & dance etc as well as lots of lovely stalls selling hand-made bits & pieces.

To celebrate the event, me & Georgia have combined skills to create a gift package deal of a beautifully designed greetings card, a pretty pocket mirror and a tea cup arrangement of fresh flowers all for £10! We will be taking orders before the event so if anyone is interested please leave a message & we will get back to you!

Hampton Court Palace Flower Show...

A while ago me & a couple of other students submitted an idea in a competition for the Writtle College stand at Hampton Court Flower Show and won! The brief was 'Romance & Roses' and took inspiration from the Pre-Raphaelitte Brotherhood and the Arts & Crafts Movement.

This is the flyer I designed for the show.

The concept for our design is based upon the beautiful 'Lady of Shalott' by Warehouse.

The design will use lots of lovely David Austin roses. This one is appropriately named 'The Lady of Shalott'. -  It has such a beautiful orange glow. Unfortunately, this isn't sold as a cut flower so won't appear in the display...

...These lovely ones will though. This is 'Kiera'...

'Patience'

One of my favourites - 'Juliet.' All these images are from the David Austin website.

I can't wait to see it all come together next week - so excited!

Olympics flowers & other things...

I am very excited to be creating some of the 4,400 Victory bouquets for the Olympics this summer. - The bouquet was designed by Jane Packer and features all British grown blooms! - I really like it, it was not was I was expecting at all - it's very small and compact but has a lovely fresh, contemporary feel to it. For more information visit http://www.jane-packer.co.uk/UK/Olympics/Olympics.html

I made this pretty bridesmaid's basket this week using spray roses, veronica, astrantia, bouvardia, rosemary & eucalyptus.

This is the stand for Inteflora at the Chelsea Flower Show. - Usually, Interflora is not particularly to my taste but I really like their display - so fun and bright and colourful !

Pansy or viola?

I am still yet to fully understand the difference between a pansy or viola! Anyhow, despite the fact that they are extremely common place I still think they are quite beautiful! Whilst dead-heading some pots of them earlier I accidently wounded this poor one... & decided to make him into a button hole. - I think it has a lovely gypsy look to it!

There were so many stunning shades of pansies at Chelsea...

ice cream sundaes...

This week I have made these ice cream sundae arrangements using beautiful Sarah Bernhardt peonies & made up some more vintage tea cup design...

I am trying to market these as great birthday / thankyou gifts ... I think also that they would look good running down the length of a table at a wedding or great in clusters of three dotted around a series of circular tables.

This is the beautiful window box at Nikki Tibble's shed at Chelsea and some elegant fox gloves.
