New things!

I had my first wedding unit assessment yesterday which was a bit stressful to say the least! - I made this bridesmaid bouquet using pink roses, purple lisianthus, cerise dendrobiums, spray carnations, eucalyptus & soft ruscus.

I also made yet another corsage! This has to be my favourite one so far though because I love the combination of the pink spray roses with the lovely wax flower - very pretty!

Check out these pictures of this lovely lilac syringa and stripey pink roses I spotted in a London florist a few weeks ago.

Finally, I got bought this bunch of red anemones the other day which I love! - despite the fact they are becoming increasingly frazzled next to the boiler in my bedroom!

Spring is coming ...

I'm so pleased that it's finally beginning to feel a bit more spring like & there's a little more colour around! - Following in that vein, we've been using some really pretty colours at college this week - including this corsage of pink spray roses, ivy & particularly pretty michelmas daisies. - I couldn't resist placing it next to an Orla Kiely print for a bit of a retro feel!

I also made this spring inspired table decoration as part of a new unit on floral arrangements.

Finally, check out these lovely orange ranunculas - definitely one of the most stylish flowers!

hair bands, cake & astrantia love...

A few weeks ago I was very excited to make this glued alice band using beautiful pink spray roses, small white chrysanthemums, wax flower, ivy & senecio. It was very fiddley & messy to construct but I love it! I particularly like the prettiness of the wax flower buds.

I recently made this cake for a friend's birthday - it was inspired by a heart design we made at college. I can't wait to start doing floral cake arrangements at college next semester...

A couple of weeks ago, I went on a trip to London with college to visit some of the most prestigious florists there. It was a really great day & lovely to see all the high end florists & the different materials & arrangements they make. I kept on seeing this lovely flower in many of the shops called 'astrantia' - my new love!

Flowers & pattern...

These are the last few shots from the photoshoot where we experimented with my two great loves - flowers and pattern! I think the tiny floral print fabric really compliments the roses.

I'm very sad to say that that is the last of my photographs from the shoot now - but I'm already busy planning the next - can't wait! This is one of my favourite pictures...
